Death
Mrs. Louise Parish Furr age 92, of Rome, GA, died, Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in a local hospital. Mrs. Furr was born in Badin, NC, on March 5, 1919, the daughter of the late David Locke Parish and Kittie Sue Patton Parish. She graduated from Badin High School and from Montreat College in 1938. Mrs. Furr was married to Bartney Henry Furr on June 8, 1943, in Badin, NC, moving to Rome in 1955. She worked for Alcoa, State of GA Department of Labor and retired from Berry College. Mrs. Furr was also instrumental in the success of the family owned businesses, Tri-Kon and Bio-Tech, Inc. She was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years and enjoyed and was very active in church functions and her church groups. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her husband, Bartney Henry Furr; a son, David Henry; two brothers, Bill Parish and Bud Parish; and two sisters, Elizabeth Craven and Arline Ross. Survivors include a son, John Bartney Furr of Rome, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kittie Sue and Stephen Campbell of Roswell, GA and Nancy Louise and Bruce Nicholson of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Bartney Locke Furr, Katy Louise Nicholson, and William Brooks Nicholson; and a great-grandson, Elijah Jeffery Ploof. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in the Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Wood officiating and JoAnne Campbell giving the eulogy. Mrs. Furr will lie-in-state from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour and the family will receive friends in the parlor. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church by 1:30 P.M. on Saturday: Johnny Whitley, Jim Thompson, Bruce Nicholson, Stephen Campbell, Will Nicholson, and Steve Williams.
