Death
NEWTON — Mrs. Mabel Rowland Furr, 71, of 2305 North Main Avenue, Newton, died at 4:20 a.m. today in an area hospital. Mrs. Furr, the wife of M. B. Furr Sr., who survives, was born May 29, 1901 in Vance County to the late Charles and Sally Thompson Rowland. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Newton with the Rev. William J. Furr and the Rev. Fred E. Thompson officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour and burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. The body will remain at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will be from 7:30 until 9 o'clock Saturday. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Bobby Furr and M. B. Furr Jr., both of Newton; one daughter, Mrs. George (Betty) Hunsucker Jr. of Maiden; six sisters, Mrs. J. L. Dixon of Elon College, Mrs. Fletcher Morton of Burlington, Mrs. Lewis Dickerson and Mrs. A. W. Stewart, both of Henderson, Mrs. A. L. Frazier of Dalton, Ga. and Mrs. Joe Ransom of Munhall, Pa.; and six grandchildren.Hickory Daily Record, Hickory, North Carolina, November 17, 1972
