ALBEMARLE - Mrs. Marguerite Hinton Walker Furr, 86, of Albemarle, died Feb. 27. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on March 2, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, on March 1.Published in Concord & Kannapolis Independent Tribune on February 28, 2010
Mrs. Marguerite Hinton Walker Furr, age 86, of 625 Bethany Road, Albemarle, NC passed away on Saturday, February 27th, 2010 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle, NC. Her family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home and at other times will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Mandy Herrin – 32672 Millingport Road, New London, NC 28127. Her funeral will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 in Stanly Funeral Home’s Chapel. Pastor John Futterer will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. Born July 29th, 1923 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late George Lockett Walker and Bertie Cleo Underwood Walker and was a retired employee of Knitsters. She was of the Presbyterian faith. She was married to the late Tommie Reid Furr. Survivors include one son: Phil Furr and wife Maureen of Charlotte, NC; two daughters: Rita F. Kohn and husband Jim of Albemarle, NC and Mandy F. Herrin and husband Randy of New London, NC; two brothers: Henry Walker of Charlotte, NC and William Walker of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. One brother, George Rogers Walker, and two sisters, Jeannette Walker Wolf and Frances Walker, preceded her in death.
