Death
CONCORD - William Cephus “Dub” Poplin, 66, of 625 Knollcrest Drive NE, Concord, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at his home.Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord. Elder Gene Hogan and Elder Charles Broadway will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family received friends Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord.
Born June 3, 1937, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Margie Furr Poplin and William Henry Poplin. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force he worked in service maintenance for 20 years at UNCC. He was a member of Flat Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lois Poplin, Vernon “Pop” Poplin and Homer Poplin.
Survivors include wife Peggy Auten Poplin of Concord; two sons, Randy L. Poplin and wife Mandy of Greenville, S.C., and Ricky L. Poplin and wife Sherry of Concord; one brother, J.D. “Dixie” Poplin and wife Linda of Norwood; three sisters, Eva Mae Leonard of Albemarle, Mildred Speight and husband Roy of Albemarle, Helen C. and husband Bob Swaringen of Norwood; five grandchildren, Ashley Poplin, Megan Poplin, Cameron Poplin, Clint Poplin and Cody Poplin.
