Death
Mrs. Jane Furr Watson, 82, died at her home here Sunday. She had been a resident of this area for 32 years coming here from birthplace in Uvalde county Texas. Surviving Mrs Watson are her husband A.F. Watson, two daughters, Mrs. I.M. Woody of Bayard and Mrs. George Clark Silver City and one son Will Furr of Silver City. She had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at the Cox mortuary chapel with the Rev. A.F. Davis of the Assembly of God church officiating. Burial was in the Gila cemetery. Mrs. Watson came to Silver City four years ago from the Mimbres where she had made a home for many years.Adoption
Norma Martin writes, "We (I'm a member of an informal group of Cox and allied family researchers), have the will of William Cox, Jr, where he give a listing of all of his children. William Cox Jr was married four times, Mrs. Jane Furr is listed as his daughter by his third wife (Sarah Jane Yates). Sarah Jane died in 1866 and previously childless Jesse Cox and Hester Ann Beckett Cox show up in the 1870 census record with a 3 year-old daughter named Jane. "Endnotes
