Death
Mrs. Lena Nielsen, 85, former Fort Benton and Chouteau county resident, died Friday, May 23, 1975, at her home in Great Falls following a long illness. Funeral services were this Tuesday afternoon at the Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Householder officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Lena Furr was born in Foxworth, Miss., April 23, 1890. She grew up in that area and came to Montana to work on a ranch in the Bear Paw Mountains the winter of 1928. She married Elmer Nielson in 1932. He owned a ranch in the mountain area which they operated until retiring to Fort Benton in 1947. He died the following year. She returned to Mississippi for some time, but later moved to Great Falls, where she resided until her death. Survivors are a daughter and son, Mrs. Jerry (Lucile) Loeffler of Great Falls and Charles Lewis of Garden Valley, Calif.; a brother and two sisters, William Furr and Emma Bangelo of Pascagoula, Miss., and Cola Slocum of Foxworth; 11 grandchildren.The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 28 May 1975
