CONCORD, Jan. 25 — Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Dry announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen, to D. V. Furr Jr, on Dec. 24, in York, S. C. Mr. Furr is a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Furr with whom the couple at present make their home.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, January 26, 1941
Death
CONCORD Daniel Vernon Furr, Jr., 91, known to family and friends as "D.V." or "Uncle Bud," passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011. D.V. was born June 20, 1920, in Cabarrus County, on a farm that he tended his whole life. He was one of the 12 children of Daniel Vernon Furr, Sr., and Sarah "Aunt Dine" Blackweld-er. D.V. attended Harrisburg School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Nadine Stallings on March 10, 1950. He worked at Cannon Mills for more than 40 years as a loom fixer. D.V. was a lifetime member of Roberta United Methodist Church. He was blessed with good health and was able to live independently for all his 91 years. He was often seen on a tractor or mending fences on his farm. D.V.'s loves were his family and his cows. His hobby was patrolling the neighborhood along Pitts School Road in his golf cart. He was a hard worker, a hearty eater, and a good hugger. D.V. was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Stallings Furr. He is survived by his daughter, Regina Furr Hinson and son-in-law, Ronnie Hinson, of Concord; one granddaughter, Robin Hinson Kanady and her husband, Michael Kanady, of Anderson, S.C.; and two siblings, Harold D. Furr and Irene Little, both of Concord. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 6, 2011, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Roberta United Methodist Church in Concord with a 30-minute state prior to the service. Rev. Randy Wall will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family meeting place will be at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Ronnie Hinson, 699 Pitts School Rd., Concord. Memorials in memory of D.V. may be made to the Building Fund of Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Rd., Concord, NC 28027.
