Jesse Van Curen, chandler, is shown in the 1838 directory as a boarder.

The census entry is adjacent to Benjamin's. Note that the 1840 city directory shows them both at the same address: 23 Federal, which is in Ward 4.The census shows a man and a woman, both aged 20-29 (born 1811-1820), presumably William and a wife. The 1865 census suggests two children by this marriage, so born between 1840 and abt 1851, when he apparently remarried. One of those two children would be Maria, who appears in the 1850 census of Uretta, Benjamin's widow.

Troy City DirectoryMarriage
The marriage record refers to E. Malone rather than A. Malone. This could be a simple mistake.Reasons to think it is correct:
- The marriage is in the expected year,
- no other William seems likely,
- in the 1865 and 1870 censuses, persons named Malone are boarders.
Residence
Same address given for Mrs. John Van Curen in 1862Troy City Directory
Occupation
This address is listed as the business address for Jasper, chandler, in 1853. Jasper does not appear after that. This address is William's business address 1853-1857.
It appears to be also William's home address in 1856.
