1920 census states he owns the house; 1930 census states that he is renting.Oddly at this time, another Louis Turtel lives uptown. Incredibly, his wife is named Tillie.

The 1930 census shows that he is renting this home. However, the indicated rent is much higher than that of the neighbors. Furthermore, the previous census states that Louis owned this same home. So I conclude that the entry is in error and that the value has a misplaced (or misread decimal point) and should be read as $15000 rather than 150.00.So, now the question is whether the number $15,000 is impossibly high.
