Harold Emery "Bi" HELSTERN
(24 Jul 1899 - 28 Mar 1980)
August1936. He was ordained as an Elder in 1939. His occupation was
traffic, shipping, freight and worked for Duro Pump Company after he
left the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a part time pastor of West
Milton Church of the Brethren and also of Harris Creek Church of the
Brethren. He transferred his ordination to the Grace Brethren Church
in the early 1950's. Harold and Christine bought the farm on Air Hill
Road in the early 1940's.

"Then my folks moved to Residence Park where they paid $32.50 a month rent. (Dad made $30 a week!) For part of the year when Russ [HELSTERN] had his splenectomy, 1933-34, the two couples and their 5 children lived together to share on expenses and rent...They "moved to West Milton [where Dad served] as part-time paid pastor at the Church of the Brethren...
"They went from West Milton to Harris Creek Church of the Brethren (about 1924-25) but Harold continued his full-time work at Duro Pump Company."

"Dad first worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad but he saw 'the handwriting on the wall' [the necessity of frequent travel and up-rooting his family] and he left in 1924-25" He then went to work full-time for Duro Pump Company.."In the summer of 1939, they moved to West Milton [where Dad served] as part-time paid pastor at the Church of the Brethren there...
