Lucy Jane Hays Lumsden went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 12 noon at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Lee and Jaron Andrews officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Beersheba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Mrs. Lumsden was born July 2, 1933 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Bud and Mary Hays. She attended Arkansas Tech University where she was a majorette in the marching band. She was the book-keeper and co-owner of Lowndes County Radial Tire for many years. Jane was a loving mother and grand-mother who provided much unconditional love and support to her family. She was also known for helping other children who needed extra care and attention. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her luscious coconut cakes. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Laura, sister Wannie and husband Tom, and brother Bill and wife Peggy.
She is survived by brother Wayne and his wife, Nancy, daughter Lisa (Ron) Holloway, son John K “Chief” Lumsden, daughter Mary Diane “Dee Dee” (Dave) Andrews, and son Jeremy (Heather) Lumsden. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jaron (Meredith) Andrews, Heather (Roberto) Rivera, Lee Andrews, Jonathan Lumsden, Hays Lumsden, and Mallory Lumsden and her great grandchildren Neely Andrews, Anna Beth Andrews, and Presley Andrews
Pallbearers will be Roberto Rivera, Tim Andrews, Peyton Ellington, Heath Forrester, Ben Lumsden and Drew Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Studdard, Howard Jenkins, Tommy Hall, Wayne Eaves, Wayne Ellis, Leroy Nickels, and Jimmy Galloway
The family would like to acknowledge family friends and care-givers Sara Ellis and Diana Granger, the staff at the Arrington (Bedford Suites) and Windsor Place, and the Baptist Hospice team.
