Alonzo was the son of William and Jane (Morrison) Douglass. He was born in Darlington, Pennsylvania and went to Lee county, Iowa with his family about 1844.
Alonzo served for the Union during the Civil War.
On Feb. 22, 1872 Alonzo was married to Mrs. Martha J. (Doughty) Earl in Olmsted County, Minnesota. They were the parents of Dorothy Daisy, Lucy Jennette, Mabel Louisa, Maude Lynn, and Edna Estella "Margaret".
