Will of Samuel J. Hodge of Montgomery Co.
First. All estate, real & personal to my wife Crosha Ann Hodge to be used, occupied & disposed of as she sees fit as long as she remains my widow and to be divided equally at her between all my children or their heirs. Should she marry, she then will have one third part as the law directs. I appoint my wife guardian to my children as long as remains a widow. She is authorized to settle all my accounts and receive all that is coming to my children from my Mother's Estate, during her widowhood. Should she marry or died, my brother-in-law and friend, Isaac Stephenson becomes guardian for my children. During my wife's widowhood, should she choose to sell all my estate thereof (except my Negro Slave George), she is hereby authorized as if it was my own act. The money from any such proceeds to be kept at interest to be used to support my wife and children, and education my children. But should she marry, then she is only to retain her one third part and the residue immediately transferred to my children or their guardian. If she is still singel when my children or either of them arrive at 21 or marry, she is to give them such portion as they may be entitled reserving a full sufficienty for her.
Second. My Negro slave George is to be hired out until my son Samuel J. Hodge arrives at the age of 21 and then George to be sold and the proceeds spplied as the rest of my estate.
Third. Beloved wife Crosha Ann Hodge to be Executrix.
Signed: Samuel J. Hodge
