Individual Details

I have found no other proof except the will of Crotia Thomson Hodge, in which she made a bequest to Col. Zachariah Haggard's wife, Zilpha. It seems reasonable since there seem to have been more than one intermarriage between the Hodge and Thomson and Haggard families, that Zilpha was her sister-in-law. Crotia made bequests to all her own sisters.

Elizabeth Hodge made a bequest to her daughter Zilpha Haggard in 1839. FindAGrave has placed Zilpha in a Teague family where is greatly suspect she does NOT belong!

Died – At her home in Lexington, Ky., Monday, of la grippe, Mrs. Zilpah Haggard, aged 83 years. The remains were brought to this county (Clark) and interred in the family graveyard, near Pilot View, Clark Co., Ky.. Rev. Wm. Rupard officiating at the funeral. She was the mother of W. Z. Haggard, of this city, and Jas. H. Haggard, of Paris.
