Ralph Stamp received patent for 195 acres in Blisland Parish,New Kent County, on April 21, 1695. In 1704, he paid quit rent on 640 acres in New Kent County. Through the influence of is cousin, Edward Hyde, Lord Cornbury, son of Sir Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon, and governor of New York and New Jersey, he became tax collector in Virginia from 1704-1708.
