Hosanna "Rose" VENNE

Hosanna "Rose" Venne was born was the third of nine children born to Edmund Venne May 3,1865 St-Alexis, Montcalm, Quebec, Canada - May 15, 1906 Coleman, WI and his wife Anna (Harriet-Hattie Sauvey born Feb 1866 in Maple Valley, Ostego Co, NY - about 1927. She was the oldest daughter. Her mother, Anna, was also of French Canadian descent.
Rose and her husband Hubert Londre (Landry)had run off to get married when they were 16 years old. They married on NOv 27, 1907 in Iron Mountain, Dickenson, MI. In his early years Hubert working in logging camps as a lumber jack. The couple used to sing duets to the lumber camp in the evenings. Hubert used to play the bones.
Together Rose and Hubert had nine children; M. Rose Blahnik/Frye 1909-1990, Pearl Miller 1911-1995, Lloyd 1912-1989, Wells 1914-1996, Harvey 1916-1980, Lester 1919-1991, Blossom 1921-1990, Clayton 1923-1970 and Ron 1925-1992.
The family spent many years in Northern Wisconsin, upper Michigan and down in the Racine area. Edmund worked as a carpenter in the Neenah, WI area in the 1920's and that was when the family learned to speak English in addition to their native French. After her husband died, Rose lived with her daughter Rose Frye in Appleton, then Lloyd Londre in Appleton before returning to the Racine area. Her final days were in a nursing home. As a young girl she lost one of her eyes in an accident at the dinner table. Her kids bought her a glass eye. We was a kind woman with a good sense of humor.
