William Henry GRANT

Born William Henry Grant, he was adopted by Benjamin and Mae Rosenberg of Kewadin, Michigan on June 14, 1914 and was known as William G. Rosenberg until October 5, 1946, when he changed his surname by Wayne County, Michigan court order, back to William Henry Grant. All his children were thus born under the surname Rosenberg, with their names being changed to Grant also.
William worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker, having built several country school-houses in late 1920s, as well as several homes in Ypsilanti, Elk Rapids, and Detroit, Michigan. In 1947 he moved his family to southern California, where in later years, he was a small building contractor and built the family home.
William married Erma Irene Pelton on May 31, 1926. Together they had four children. At the time of his death William was grandfather to eighteen grandchildren.
