Emily married Cyril Grant on July 10, 1855 in what was then Provemont, Michigan. She and Cyril came to the Centerville area of Lake Leelanau and homesteaded in 1857. Together they had ten children; Amelia Josephina, Julia Genevieve, Edward Cyrille, Maria Isabella "Elizabeth", Philomena, Antoine Francis, Cecilia, Helen, Joseph and Cyril Octave.
