ames P. Raboin, 81, of Stephenson, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay, Wis. Jim was born on May 27, 1931, in Daggett, Mich., the number eight child out of 11 born to the late Napoleon and Agnes (Pairon) Raboin.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Stephenson High School. Jim proudly served his Country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1954. Following his discharge from the military, Jim worked for the Menominee County Road Commission. On June 2, 1956, Jim married the former Margaret Nerat at Precious Blood Catholic Church. In 1960, Jim was hired by Sheriff Ed Reindl to fill the spot Jim's father-in-law had until his death. Jim worked as a deputy for the Menominee County Sheriff's department for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid beer can collector. Jim was a person who could make people laugh-never forgetting a good joke. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret; daughter, Jane Raygo; son, James (Donna) Raboin; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-granddaughter; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Manette) Raboin; sisters: Laura Bushonville and Louise (John) Wolosick; special friend, Michael Raygo; many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his in-laws: Martin and Anna Nerat; infant daughter; three brothers: Art, Fred and George; and four sisters: Dorothy Weisinger, Mable Morosi, Irene Borski and Josephine Lahay.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2013, after 4 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Michael Ocran officiating at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
