He was a retired federal employee, a World War II veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are his wife, Barbara Johnston Maynard; five daughters, Dana Diaz of California, Lindsey Johnson of Alabama, Marilyn Markel of Ohio, Patricia Kealoha of Hawaii and Kathy Claiborne of Alaska; two stepsons, James and Paul Matthews, both of McRae; his mother, Bertha Maynard of California; a brother M. L. Maynard of California; a sister, Leora Bradley of Illinois, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McEuen Funeral Home at Searcy. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery near Searcy.
