The Altus Times, Altus, Oklahoma, June 4, 1985, Page 16, Col. 1 & 2: Glenn Sommers, 79, Altus, died June 3, 1985 at the Altus House Nursing Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tims Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Bob Maxey and the Rev. Rod Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home. Born June 1, 1906 in Texas, Sommers married Clara Booth Nov. 28, 1926 near Hollis. He was associated with the Ford Motor Company of Altus for 37 years, retiring in 1978. Sommers was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and greeter. Sommers, a member of the Woodmen of the World, was also a school crossing guard and ran the children's swimming pool during the summer. Survivors include his wife, Clara, of the home; three daughters, Colleen Kirby, Lawton, Glenn Ann Sommers, Altus, and Peggy Starwalt, Altus; a brother, Elton Sommers, Tulsa; three sisters, Opal McDonald, Fort Worth, Texas, Viola Hubanks, Hollis, and Ada Goad, Northwalk [Norwalk], Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
