William "Virgil" Kirkpatrick

Mt. Vernon Register News, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Saturday, December 16, 1972, Page 2, Col. 1: Virgil Kirkpatrick, 72, died Thursday evening at his home in Valier. He was a former resident of Sesser. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the first Christian church of Sesser with the Rev. John Plunkett officiating. Burial will be in the Horse Prairie cemetery near Sesser. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Brayfield Funeral Home at Sesser, AF and AM No. 918 will held Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. at the Brayfield Funeral Home. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born Nov. 1, 1900, in Franklin county, the son of W. S. and Altha (Harrison) Kirkpatrick. Mr. Kirkpatrick was married to the former Ethel Elkins*, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Virginia Bracher of Saginaw, Mich., and Helen Galloway of Aurora; one brother William of Sesser; three sisters, Verda Graham of Glenwood, ill., Ethel Hodder of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Ida Winemiller of Sesser; and seven grandchildren.
*He was married to Elizabeth Wallace. Ethel was married to Roy W. Kirkpatrick and then Everett Roberson.
