Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Friday, May 21, 2004: Sesser--- Ethel Kirkpatrick Johnston Hodder, 93, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Ethel was born in Sesser, the daughter of William and Altha Harrison Kirkpatrick. She moved to Fort Pierce 40 years ago from Sesser. Ethel married Raymond Johnston in 1928. She was a co-partner of Johnston Insurance Agency in Sesser. Mr. Johnston preceded her in death in 1958. She was married to Albert Hodder, her second husband, who preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Fort Pierce, Fla. Ethel was beloved by everyone who knew her.She is survived by her daughters, Mary and her husband Dr. Gilbert Kinyon on La Jolla, Calif., Mae and her husband Harold Holtsberg of Fort Pierce, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. A celebration of Ethel's life will take place at a later time to be set by the family. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast 805 Virginia Avenue, suite 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34982. Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
