[James A.], one of the most progressive farmers of this township, died at his home five miles northeast of this city, Monday morning. He had been in ill health for the past several months.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was born and raised on this side of the county, where he had spent his entire life. Several years ago he purchased what was then known as the Dr. Ulysses Hutson farm, where he developed a fine stock and grain farm. He was one of the fine outstanding and progressive citizens of this community, always taking a keen and active interest in its affairs and well being.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Hutson Kirkpatrick; one son, Olen Kirkpatrick of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Madge Leever of Fort Wayne, Inc.; one brother, Roscoe Kirkpatrick, and one sister, Mrs. Rose Bauman, both of Sesser, numerous other relatives and many sincere and warm personal friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Horse Prairie Baptist church at 11 o'clock this (Thursday) morning, Rev. John B. Maulding and Rev. Leon Fox officiating. Burial will be at the Horse Prairie cemetery.
