Roscoe Kenneth Stockton

Roscoe Kenneth Stockton was born 25 May 1889 in Brady Island, Nebraska and died 19 November 1950 in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado. His parents were Lincoln C. E. and Jessie D. (Anderson) Stockton. He was a teacher and a principal in the Denver area schools and became a professor at the University of Denver. he also was an inventor and a pioneer in radio dramatics, wrote scripts and acted in some of the programs he produced on KOA radio in Denver and had taught "Fibber McGee and Mollie" among others. He enjoyed the mountains of Colorado and had a cabin there and wrote poetry and songs. One song was the state song of Colorado for a time. He wrote the Boy Scouty song "Be Prepared". Around 1915, while in Eldorado Springs, Colorado, he met Pansy Cornelia repass who was working with her parents at the hotel they managed called "The Grand View". Roscoe and pansy were married at Pine Cliff, Colorado 19 June 1918. Pansy Repass was born in Eldorado Springs, Cedar County, Missouri 31 March 1895 and she and her parents, David and Jennie Repass and brothers Robert and Paul had moved to Colorado in 1902. Pansy was an artist who developed a new art form she became famous for, called "sun paintings". These 'paintings' didn't have any paint in them at all, but instead were made up of material of nature that she gathered and put behind glass and framed. Roscoe and Pansy had two sons. Oakley Leonard Stockton was born 21 August 1919. Paul Martell Stockton was born 19 October 1921. Oak Stockton was drafted into the army in October of 1941 and then attained the rank of Lt. Col. in the Air Force, and served for twenty-four years. He married Beverly Coe and they had four children, Chip, Scott, Lorrie, and Randy.
