Gordon B. White was born 26 June 1909. He is a Methodist minister and lives in Normal, McLean County, Illinois. He married Katherine Kircher [should be Koertge].
There were two (2) children born of the marriage.
The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Illinois, December 17, 1995: The Memorial Service Of The Rev. Gordon B. White, 86, of 406 Marian Ave., Normal, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Normal, the Rev. James B. Bortell officiating. A private burial will be Monday in the Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. He died at 3:15 p.m. Friday (Dec. 15, 1995) at his home. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief in care of the First United Methodist Church of Normal.
He is survived by two sons, Russell Charles White, Bernardsville, N.J.; and James Bradley White, Bloomington; two sisters, Priscilla Baum, Laguna Hills, Calif.; and Margaret Sailor, Chicago; and one brother, Alfred White, Springfield. He also is survived by two granddaughters, Meghan White and Gillan White; and one grandson, Russell D. White. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Rev. White was born June 26, 1909, in Fairport, Mo., a son of Gay C. and Rose Law White. He married Katherine Koertge in 1934. She died in 1992. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Illinois and a bachelor of divinity from Garrett Biblical Institute. He received a doctorate of theology from Boston School of Theology. He began his ministry of 53 years from his freshman year in college until 1978. Rev. White served churches in East Ridgewater, Mass., Pittsfield, and Havana, Ill. He served for 23 years at the First United Methodist Church, Normal, before retiring in 1973. The bishop then appointed him pastor of Arrowsmith, where he served five years. He served the Normal church during the period when the current church was built and the chapel was named the Gordon B. White Chapel in honor of his years of service. He was still a member of the First United Methodist Church, Normal. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a life member of the Normal Masonic Lodge and the Bloomington Consistory.
