The State Journal-Register, Springfield, Illinois, October 12, 2002: Springfield-- Alfred Kirke White, 96, of Springfield, died Thursday Oct. 10, 2002, at Regency Health Care center. He was born April 11,1906, in Cowgill, Mo., the son of the Rev. Gay C. and Rose Law White. He married Helen Tompkins in 1942. Mr. White attended grade schools in Portland, Maine, and Watertown, S.D. He graduated from high school in Mitchell, S.D., and graduated from South Dakota Wesleyan University in 1930. He worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue for 36 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church, Central Lodge 71 AF&AM, Springfield Consistory, Knights Templar, Ansar Shrine, Abe Lincoln Hi 12 Club, Ansar Retirees Club and United Methodist Men's Club. Survivors: wife, Helen T.; two sisters, Priscilla Baum of Houston and Margaret Sailor of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel, the Rev. John Hamilton and Dr. Frank Nestler officiating. Private family burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
