Funeral services for Charles Clyde Painter, 70, local resident for 40 years, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Flickinger-Digler Chapel with the Reverend John Murdoch, officiating. Mr. Painter died Saturday at a local hospital. President of the Heard & Painter Company of Taft, Mr. Painter was in the mercantile business from the time of his arrival in Kern county in 1905. He was member of Bakersfield Lodge 224, F. & A.; Scottish Rite bodies, Los Angeles Al Malakiah Temple Shrine; Taft Merchants Association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lou Painter, Bakersfield; son, Edwin Painter, Los Angeles; daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Ramsden, Bogota, Columbia; brother, J. B. Painter, Taft; sisters, Mrs. Eva Cox and Mrs. E. D. Jones, Long Beach; one grandchild. Pallbearers are H. H. Bell, James and William Vizzard, A. J. Crites, Warde Watson and T. S. Hougham. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
