Crumly,64, a general secretary at the downtown YMCA for 15 years of 3527 Russell st., Loma Portal, died yesterday in a hospital. Crumly joined the YMCA here in 1941 and directed the organization's annual finance and membership campaign. He also supervised the YMCA boy's camps. He retired for the YMCA in 1956.
He was director of development at California Western University at the time of his death. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and attended Whittier and George Williams colleges. He was a veteran of World War I. He served on the board of the Youth Symphony and was a member of the San Diego Rotary Club. He also was a member of the Community Welfare Council board and the USO Advisory Board. He is survived by his widow, Margaret S., his mother, Mrs. Mary C. Crumly, of Woodlake; a son, Robert of Chula Vista, a daughter and eight grandchildren. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dean McBride, pastor of Community Presbyterian Church, at noon Friday in Dunham Brothers Mortuary. Private burial will be in Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
