Edward Fielding Wayland

Wayland of this city at 9:35 o'clock Saturday night after a lingering illness of 13 years, although he had been bedfast but three weeks. He was born on September 20, 1867 at St. Francesville, Mo., the eldest son of Samuel Ford and Liza Wayland. He grew to manhood in that community and was engaged in farming with his father. In 1892 he went into the grocery business at Kahoka, Mo., and on February 3, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida S. Arnold. His grandfather and grandmother Jerminia and Nancy Wayland were the first settlers to Clark county, Mo., and his grandfather was a Baptist minister. He is survived by his wife, Ida S. Wayland, one daughter, Mrs. W. A. Siegrist of Niota, Ill., one son, Granville L. Wayland of this city, four grandchildren, Walter L. and Martha Siegrist, and Robert L. Wayland and Helen Lee Griffith. Two sister, Mrs. Blanch Taylor and Mrs. Pearl Triay, and one brother, John all of Los Angeles, Calif. The body will lie at the home of his son, G. L. Wayland, 408 Avenue D, until time for the funeral services which will be held at the Clements chapel, at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The services will be conducted by Noel t. Adams of the First Christian church of which Mr. Wayland was a member. He was a charter member of the Maccabee lodge. Burial will be made at Oakland cemetery.
