William Leroy Kirkpatrick was born 9 May 1922 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. He married 21 October 1944 in Gretna, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, to Mildred Bernice Watts, daughter of Carlos Arvin and Pearl Irene (Downs) Watts, who was born 3 July 1926, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. William died 22 March 2001 (believed to be Paradise, Rapides Parish, Louisiana) and was cremated. His ashes were spread over their property at Paradise per their request, by their children. Mildred died 9 April 1986 (also believed to be at Paradise) and was also cremated and her ashes spread over their property at Paradise, by their children.
There were five (5) children born of the marriage.
Alexandria Daily Town Talk Louisiana, March 26, 2001: Memorial services for Dr. William Kirkpatrick will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville. Kirkpatrick, 78, of Pineville died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a retired psychiatrist. He began his career at East Louisiana State Hospital, Jackson, until 1955 and then opened the first outpatient mental health clinic in Lafayette, serving as the director until 1962. He then moved to Pineville and worked until his retirement in 1982 at Central State Hospital. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Watts Kirkpatrick one son, William Leroy Kirkpatrick Jr. and his parents, Edward Weaver and Ruth Villa Young Kirkpatrick. Survivors include two sons, Carlos Edward Kirkpatrick and Jeffrey Scott Kirkpatrick, both of Pineville two daughters, Dr. Lynda Lee Kirkpatrick Zaunbrecker of Saranac Lake, N.Y., and Kelly Jane Kirkpatrick Rawson of Pineville three sisters, Lorene Kirkpatrick Gilbert of Jupiter, Fla., Ellen Kirkpatrick Jacobs of Satelite Beach, Fla., and Edra Kirkpatrick Estabrooks of Naperville, Ill. and seven grandchildren. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.
