Journal Daily-News, Hamilton, Ohio, Wednesday March 4, 1970: Marvin Hayes Dies Aged 59. Marvin R. Hayes, 59, 2065 Smith Road, died Tuesday at 8:50 a.m. in Fort Hamilton Hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 20. He had been in ill health 16 months and had been hospitalized several times. Born in Hamilton June 3, 1910, he was the son of John and Laura Robinson Hayes. He received his education in the public schools of Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School is 1929. He took several courses in papermaking following his graduation from high school. He married Eva Golemiesky, Aug. 21, 1934* in Tennessee. Champion Supervisor. He was employed with U. S. Plywood - Champion as a supervisor in the machine coat department and at the time of his death had been a faithful employee 40 years. He attended the Front St. Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Champion Management Association and the Industrial Management Club. He was a 25 year member of the American Legion, Durwin Schantz Post 138. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and remodeling. He served with the U. S. Navy with the Naval Construction Battalion as a Mailman 2nd Class. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one star and the American Area Ribbon. Members of family. He leaves his wife, a son, John Richard Hayes, serving with the space program in Antigua, West Indies, a brother, Edgar Hayes of Piqua, Ohio, a sister, Mrs. William J. (Lucille) Schneider of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. George (Edith) Higgins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Klaus-Weigel Funeral Home, Elvin Ave and N. F Street, with the Rev. Elvin J. Olson, pastor of Front St. Presbyterian Church officiating. There will be no visitation. The family suggests that those who so desire may direct contributions to the Butler, Hamilton Chapter of the American Cancer society in Mr. Hayes' memory.
