Ann R Snell
(27 Jun 1864 - 13 Dec 1917)
Ann Snell was born in Brigden, Ontario, Canada, June 27, 1864. Her father was killed in a runaway accident when she was just a young girl. She came to Nebr. in 1880 with her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Scott, who settled on a homestead 7 miles northeast of Gothenburg, where she resided until her marriage to W. W. Ristine, Jan. 9, 1885, when she went to her new home only two miles away, where she resided until her death.
Two children were born to this union, W. Cecil Ristine and Luther C. Ristine, who reside northeast of Gothenburg. Coming to this country in an early day, she experienced many of the hardships of the early pioneers and worked hard and sacrificed much in order to build up a home in a new country. For years she was in poor health and suffered greatly at times for the last two years. She was converted when 17 years of age, in a day when there were no church buildings and the meetings were held in Sod school houses or the sod homes of the community. She united with the Methodist church after her conversion and lived a consistent Christian life until her death at the Clarkson hospital, Omaha, on Dec. 13, 1917, aged 33 years, 3 mos., and 16 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two sons, Cecil and Luther, a little grandson, two brothers, Robert W. Snell and James W. Scott, and her stepfather. W. H. Scott, all of this vicinity, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Arthur Atack. Interment was made in Grandview cemetery.
