==========
An email from Edwin's granddaughter Elizabeth states:
"I knew my grandfather Edwin until the mid-l940s. I think he died in about l946. I don't have the exact date. He is buried in the Wichita cemetery near his son, Frank and his other son Richard. He died in my father's arms in Wichita, Kansas from a heart attack. My father was just home from the war, and it was his first night back from Germany on his way to Japan. My father, a Col. in the US Army, then had to get on a train to go to Japan, and on the way there, my Uncle Richard (Dick) also died. Uncle "Dick" was a lawyer, and had a withered arm from childhood polio. Dick was greatly loved, but never married because of his arm. He was in his 30s. My Grandmother, once a Methodist, had become a Christian Scientist, and he got sick but they did not call a doctor. My father had to go overseas having just lost his Father and his younger brother. The Red Cross reached him on the train and he came back for the funeral. It was a very sad time for him until we arrived in Japan to be with him.

Edwin was a very quiet man and very dignified. He was the manager of the Allis Chalmbers Tractor Company in Wichita, Kan. for many years. He had a law degree when they were no real law schools. They lived for some time in North Dakota and other places and finally settled down in Wichita, Kansas where he lived with his wife Mabel Hodson Kirkpatrick and his remaining son, Richard. He was a Republican and listened avidly to the radio in the l930s. He and Mabel had four children, Melba, Frank Smith, Joseph, and Richard. Joseph died during the l929 Depression. "
