Joseph Owen "Joe" Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick, 73, will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. from the Gubser Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Arndt of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating.
Mr. Kirkpatrick, who came to Ogallala to work on the Kingsley Dam project in the 1930's, died Thursday, Aug. 28, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He was born Jan. 23, 1913, at Lexington, the son of Chauncey and Isabelle Kirkpatrick and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1931. He worked on the Kingsley Dam project for most of his life was employed as a petroleum engineer. Aviation was important to him throughout his life. He began flying in 1927 and remained active in aviation for many years.
In 1939, he married Rega Geisert who preceded him in death in 1975. He later married Virginia Hall Denniston. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one brother, Wayne Kirkpatrick of Gothenburg; one sister, Twilabelle Ray of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
