Rolfe Reveille, Rolfe, Iowa, Thursday, August 2, 1888, Page 5, Col. 5: Obituary. Died--At the residence of her son, H. P. Clason, at Burr Oak, Kan. Rebecca Clason, in her 71st year. In 1864, Father and Mother Clason came to Pocahontas county and remained here until sometime in the seventies. They then moved to Kansas, where Father Clason died in 1878 [1880], and his widow, the subject of this notice, in 1888. They were member of the first Presbyterian church organized in Pocahontas county, and for many years Father Clason was a ruling elder in the church. The Clason home, though humble like all pioneer homes of those days, was noted for its free hospitality, and no family enjoyed the fellowship of friends more or made them more at home than they did. Mrs. Clason was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom are living yet. Two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Heald and Mrs. C. J. Carlson, are residents of Clinton township. Mrs. Clason has been known to the writer for more than twenty years and in all the trials incident to life she was never heard to murmur or complain. Her daily walk and conversation indicated she had put her trust in One who was able to keep her during life and who did not forsake her in death.
