Martha Jane Kirkpatrick

Martha Kirkpatrick, often called "Aunt Mat", was born 29 September 1840 in Southouth Carolina and died 24 December 1925, Caledonia, Mississippi. She married on 10 August 1865 to James Lawson Egger who was born 7 January 1839 and died 7 June 1913. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War in Company D, 24th Mississippi Infantry. Since he was known in later years as "Cap'n Jim", he may have held the rank of Captain.

James was a farmer and a carpenter. He served as mayor of Caledonia, Mississippi from 1909 - 1913. He built the Presbyterian Church in Caledonia in 1891. The church building is now the property of the town of Caledonia and is being used as their museum.

There were eight (8) children born of the marriage.
