Although there are some Kirkpatrick family trees on Ancestry that list Ray's death as being in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, those entries are in error. Per his Fairfield Ledger obituary published on Dec. 10, 1958 he died at Oakland, Alameda county, California. Subsequently, a Fairfield Ledger story was published on Monday, Feb. 16, 1959, Pg.8 Col. 1, noting that his ashes were being returned to Fairfield for burial but perhaps for family reasons (to allow for family to be present) he was not actually buried until Feb. 19, 1959.
