Mt. Vernon, Ky., Nov. 15 (UP)---One youth was killed and two boys and a man were arrested today following a fight over the division of a crop on a farm at Burr, near here.
Denver Parrett, 16, was shot in the back with a rifle bullet and instantly killed. E. B. Jones, 27, was arrested on a murder warrant; his brother-in-law, M. Lovell, 19, was charged with aiding and abetting and another relatives, James Lawrence, 15, of Hamilton, Ohio, was charged with being an accessory before the fact. All three were placed in jail here and denied the charges.
According to officers who arrested the trio, the Parrett family tenanted a farm owned by Charles Lovell, father of one of the arrested youths. The Parretts were gathering corn when a dispute arose with the other three over its division, officers were told, and the Parretts fled.
Lawrence ran to his home, seized a rifle and started firing, officers said, and Jones then took the weapon and fired a single shot, striking Denver Parrett in the back. The Parretts have eight other children besides Denver.

The quartet, tried jointly, was accused of willful murder in connection with the fatal shooting last November of Denver Parrett, 16-year-old son of a tenant on the farm of Elbert Jones, in this county. A quarrel with the tenant's family had resulted over the division of a crop.
Those convicted and sentenced in the case were Mrs. Mary Lovell, three years; her son, Moran Lovell, 19, two years; her grandson, James, 15, two years, and her son-in-law Elbert Jones, 27, 21 years.
The case went to the jury Saturday morning, was taken from the jurors' hands over Sunday and returned to them today. The verdict was returned at 1 o'clock this afternoon.
