Posted at findagrave.com: OWENS, Dora ''Ma'' Age 91 of Hamilton passed away at Huntington Court on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 5:25 PM. She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on October 1, 1914 the daughter of Woody and Lilly (Wise) Parrett. Dora was employed as a seamstress for Sears and Dunlaps. She was a member of the Hamilton Christian Center. Dora took pride in being a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. On November 4, 1933 in McKee, Kentucky she married Robert Owens, who preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Allene Sirk of Hamilton; six sons, Gilbert (Donna) Owens of Shandon, Robert G. (Mary Lou) Owens of Sunman, Indiana, James (Sharon) Owens of Milan, Indiana, Leroy (JoAnn) Owens, Ray (Ollie) Owens, both of Hamilton, and Donnie (Norma) Owens of Middletown; one sister, Gladys Moore of Dayton; nineteen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Denver, Wiley, Dallas, and Artemis Parrett; four sisters, Dorothy Ball, Minerva Robinson, Virgie Woodall, and Tilda Purpose; and two grandsons, Jonathan Owens and Cody Meyer. Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Johnny Wade Sloan, Rev. Jacob Flannery, and Rev. Ronnie Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Cincinnati for the kindness they gave to our mother and a special thank you to Susanne Fischer, Evercare, and all the staff at Huntington Court, including her friend and special aide, Tracy Deaton. Memorials may be made to Huntington Court Activities Director, Joan Southard, to be used for all residents.
