The obituary follows:
The sad news of the passing for Mrs. J. H. Griffith came to Milford this week. She had been ill for many months and while her many friends knew her time of earth was short, yet the passing of a dear friend is always sad.
Mrs. Griffith was a splendid woman, a true and consistent friend and devoted mother. Naturally of a retiring and quiet disposition, she did not mingle greatly in the social side of the community life, yet her kindly spirit and general desire for helpfulness made her dear to all neighbors and her friends. Her devotion to her family was rewarded by the love and care of her two sons. No mother could ask for more that they gave her.
Minnie M. Meyer was born at Preston, Ia., Sept. 25, 1863, and passed from this life at the home of her son, Ralph, at Woodbine, Ia., on May 4, 1939. She grew to young womanhood in Preston, where for some time she conducted a dressmaking business with a sister. She was married to John Henry Griffith at Preston on May 2, 1894. They came to Milford in 1903 and this has been their family hoe ever since, except for a few years spent in Wisconsin. Mr. Griffith died August 15, 1932, and lies in Okoboji cemetery.
