Emma May Chandler

Creston News Advertiser, Creston, Iowa, Wednesday, October 12, 1960, Page 5, Cols. 3 & 4: Emma May Weaver, daughter of C. A. and Amanda J. (Chandler) Weaver, was born near Carl in Adams county, Iowa, on April 3, 1890 and passed away early Tuesday morning, October 4, 1960 at her home, 300 North Maple Street in Creston. She had attained the age of 70 years, 5 months and one day.
When she was a little girl she moved with her parents to the Clara Chapel vicinity if Grove township, Adair county, Iowa. It was in this community that she grew to womanhood, and where she met and was married to Charley S. Weaver, the marriage taking place on February 14, 1911.
Mr. and Mrs. Weaver lived on the farm, until moving to Creston in 1938 and this was their home until she passed away. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her five children; Velda and husband Dave Morris; Velma and husband, Robert Pettigrew of Creston; Wilda and husband Harvey Conard of Greenfield; Albert and his wife Evelyn of Schaller, Iowa; and Johnny and wife Florine of Ida Grove. Also surviving her are seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, of whom she was especially fond.
In addition to those named above, she is survived by four sisters; Mrs. Otto Moore of Greenfield; Mrs. Sadie Van Horn of Creston; and Rose Schnoor and Mrs. Bess Levitt, both of Portland, Oregon and a brother, Lloyd Chandler of Anita.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, and her husband Charley who died on July 8 of this year.
To her family she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and to her many, many friends she was a friend indeed. As a young woman, she confessed her faith in Christ, and became a member of the Clara Chapel church.
Funeral services were held October 8 at 3 p.m. at Murray-Bickford Funeral Home, Greenfield with Rev. Francis Crown of the Baptist Church, Creston, officiating. burial was in Greenfield cemetery.
