William was born in Sesser, Illinois, on October 19, 1923 to the late William Leo and Maymie (Loman) Kirkpatrick. He was a sprinkler fitter with Local Union 669. He served in the United States Army with the 10th Mountain Division during WWII and also served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Rockport American Legion Post 254 and was very active with the Color Guard. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. William was a 4-H Leader with the Silverdale Boys Club. He coached little league and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. William is survived by his wife, Ellen Kirkpatrick; Children, Susan Harris and her husband Donnie of Rockport, IN; Mike Kirkpatrick and his wife Marcia of Grandview, IN; David Kirkpatrick and his wife Mary Jane of Rockport, IN; Lisa Cox and her husband Joe of Rockport, IN; Sally Kirkpatrick and her husband King Fisher of Indianapolis, IN; Chris Kirkpatrick and his wife Cathy of Rockport, IN; Grandchildren, Jonathan Harris and his wife Dara, Ryan Harris, Meryl, Shelby, Ethan, Sara and Grace Kirkpatrick, Mason Cox, Chase , Zane, and Kendall Fisher, Brittany Pickerill and her husband Josh, Tyler, Laura, and Leah Kirkpatrick; Great-grandchildren, Wade and Sam Harris; Brother, Noble Kirkpatrick and his wife Vonda of Riverview, FL; Sister, Lillie Mae Slavik of Crete, IL; Several nieces and nephews. Services are 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Rockport, IN. with Rev. Larry VanCamp officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport, IN. with the Rockport American Legion Post 254 providing Military Honors. Visitation is from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, IN. and from 8 A.M. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer County Hospice Association and Trinity United Methodist Church.
