Akron Beacon Journal, Akron, Ohio, Saturday, August 13, 1977, Page C 9, Col. 8: Dr. Gay S. Hildreth, 83, of 651 Orlando Av., died August 11, at Manor Care Nursing Center. Born May 7, 1894 in Triplett, W. Va., and had lived in Akron for 57 years. He was retired dentist, having practiced for 61 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the East Akron Kiwanis Club and it's first president. He was a member of the Summit County Dental Society, the American Dental Society, and the Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. He is survived by his wife, Verna; son, James A., of Jackson, Mich.; daughter, Marilyn Thompkins, of Akron, O.; 6 grandchildren; brother, Roy, of Spencer, W. Va.; sister Eska Artist, also of Spencer, W. Va. Funeral services will be Monday 11 a.m. at the Carr Memorial Home, 39 S. Miller rd. with Rev. John K. Heess officiating. Calling hours are Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations to the First United Methodist Memorial Fund. (Arrangements by the Stampfle Funeral Home, 724-9377).
