Benton Evening News, Benton, Illinois, Friday, October 17, 2003: Christopher -- Uneeda Fern Barbieux Lewis, 87, passed from this life to be with her Lord at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at her home in Christopher. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Gilbert Funeral Home, with Brother Gary Farthing officiating. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral service.
Uneeda was born May 20, 1916, in Christopher to Arthur and Dessie Kirkpatrick Barbieux. She was united in marriage to David Lewis on Dec. 16, 1961. She was a charter member of Christ's View Christian Church in Christopher. In her younger years, she was involved in many activities in the church, PTA and VFW Auxiliary, and served as Republican precinct committee woman for Tyrone Township. She is survived by her husband, David Lewis; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Lyman Benns of Benton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Mikkel Sneddon of Buckner, and George and Nellie Lewis of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren and spouses, Julie and Mike Griesz of Lake Villa, Eric and Lora Benns of Richmond, Ind., Amy Sneddon of Buckner, Andrew and Chris Sneddon of Benton, and Marsha and Ken Schuster, and Angela Lewis, all of Marietta, Ga. She is also survived by six half-sisters and brothers, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and by 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one granddaughter, Janice Kay Lewis. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
