Posted at findagrave.com: Christopher-- David Arthur Lewis, 90, passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Stone Bridge Nursing Home in Benton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. David was born March 11, 1921, in Buckner to George and Della Jennings Lewis. He married Uneeda Barbieux Sneddon on Dec. 16, 1961. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 2003. He was an Army Sergeant during World War II. He served his country in Africa, Italy, France, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He worked as a Coca-Cola route salesman, worked at Phelps Dodge in Du Quoin and Printers Inc. in Benton. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors. He was a charter member of Christ's View Christian Church in Christopher. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Lyman Benns of Benton; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Mikkell Sneddon of Buckner; six grandchildren, Julie and Mike Greisz of Mayfield, Ky., Eric and Lora Benns of Richmond, Ind., Amy Sneddon of Buckner, Andrew Sneddon of Centralia, Marsha and Ken Schuster of Douglasville, Ga., and Angela and Marc Austin of Atlanta; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Uneeda Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, George and Nellie Lewis; parents; one brother, Neal Lewis; one sister, Augusta Bullock; and one granddaughter, Janice Kay Lewis.
