Death speedily ended the celebration by Hartley Kirkpatrick, Seattle of his twenty-third birthday today. Having the day off, he started on an automobile drive to Aberdeen to visit his father. At Nisqually the automobile, in which he was riding with a friend, crashed into a concrete railing when they failed to make a sharp turn onto a bridge. Kirkpatrick died en route to St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia. His companion, Charles E. Swain, 305 Fifth Ave., Seattle, a taxicab driver suffered several fractured ribs and possible internal injuries, according to a United Press dispatch to The Times from Olympia. Kirkpatrick worked at the Moore Hotel, with his two younger brothers, Earl and Dean. He was married an resided at 2406 Second Ave. Swain is single.

Funeral services for Hartley Kirkpatrick, Moore Hotel employee killed yesterday in an automobile accident at Nisqually on his 23rd birthday, will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow from the Washelli Funeral Parlors. His body was being brought today from Olympia, where it was taken yesterday after the accident.
