Wash, 87, of Terre Haute and formerly of West Terre Haute, died at 8:37 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, in Union Hospital. He retired from the federal prison in Terre Haute and the Milwaukee Railroad after 20 years of service. He was born Dec. 5, 1916, in Kentucky to Breckenridge Wash and Ione Moore Wash. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Alverta Yocum Wash; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Mitchell of West Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Mike Mitchell and his wife, Jackie, Rick Mitchell and his wife, Sarah, Sherry Mitchell and Teresa Belzile and her husband, Marc; five great grandchildren, Jamie Walters and her husband, John, Cody Mitchell, Josh Belzile, Kyle Belzile and Travis Mitchell; one great-great grandchild, Lily Walters; and one sister, Eva Stone of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hubert Wash; and one half brother, Walter Jett. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of West Terre Haute. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Fitzpatrick Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Mike Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Rick Mitchell, Marc Belzile, Kyle Belzile, Josh Belzile and John Walters. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. until services Thursday.
