Posted at findagrave.com: Alverta "Mim" Yocum Wash, 92, of Terre Haute, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. She passed away at 10:12 p.m. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born June 5, 1920, to Marion and Ruth Yocum. She married Richard M. Wash on Nov. 6, 1938, and he preceded her in death in March of 2004. Together they had owned and operated Wash's Grocery Store on South Sixth Street in West Terre Haute for several years. She was a member of West Terre Haute Assembly of God Church since 1948, where she also was involved with the Women's Ministries and Oasis Group. She also was a member of the Gideons. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Mitchell; four grandchildren, Mike Mitchell (Jackie), Sherry Mitchell, Teresa Belzile (Marc), and Rick Mitchell (Sarah); five great-grandchildren, Jamie Walters (John), Cody Mitchell (Jenecia), Josh Belzile (Shannon), Kyle Belzile, and Travis Mitchell; two great-great-granddaughters, Lily Walters and Laela Mitchell; two sisters, Ioma Walton and Leatha Haywood; and a brother, Herschel Yocum. She also was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Mitchell in December of 2011; two brothers, Evertt and Herman Yocum; and two sisters, Wanitta Walker and Rosetta Hice. Funeral services for Alverta will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to West Terre Haute Assembly of God Church with envelopes available in the funeral home.
