Margaret A. Lemmon

Mrs. Z. I. Hodson, one of the pioneer settlers of this community, passed away early Friday morning after a short illness. The funeral was held Saturday morning at the home four miles east of this city at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. M. Shepperd and the remains laid to rest in the Grandview cemetery. Six members of Thomas martin Post G. A. R. of which Mr. Hodson is a member, acted as pallbearers, as follows: J. I. Buterbaugh, Henry Wagner, A. S. Bailey, John T. Edwards, W. F. Linn and c. Reaser. Margaret A., daughter of Robert and Sarah Lemmon, was born in Jennings county, Indiana, May 1, 1849, and died July 4, 1913, aged 61 years, two months and three days. Her ancestors were among the early settlers of Pennsylvania. Her great grandfather on her mother's side was captured by the Indians and held twelve years before he escaped. Her parents moved to Fairfield, Iowa in 1850. Here she grew to womanhood and on the 19th of Mar., 1867, she was married to Zachariah L. Hodson.They moved to a farm near Salem, Iowa, where they resided till 1883, when they moved to Nebraska and located on a homestead four miles east of Gothenburg where they have since resideded.

Her parents were Presbyterian and she was raised in that faith. She was converted in her twenty-eighth year and with her husband united with the Cedar Creek church near her home in Iowa, and during the rest of her residence there she was a sincere and conscientious member. On their removal to Nebraska they united with the Evangelical church by letter and when the Presbyterian church was organized at Gothenburg they transferred their membership to it. In all the relationships of life she did her share and more, as wife, mother, friend, neighbor, church member and Christian. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, G. E. and T. A. Hodson of this city, and Robert L. Hodson of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Frank Campbell, of Fairfield, Iowa and three brothers, Thos.
